It’s been a few weeks since I’ve posted on the site and I thought it was about time I gave everyone a life update.
I’ve been hinting at it for a few months now but Sam and I have been going through some big life changes and it’s difficult to continue life as normal when it’s everything but. For the first time in a long time, nothing seems to be happening the way we want it to or as quickly as we want it to. The ‘hurry up and wait’ mentality has been the story of our existence and we’ve been traveling more to try and distract ourselves from this constant state of flux. We are very driven, high-energy people (aka ‘control freaks’), and when we have too much time on our hands we have a tendency of getting into our heads and even under each other’s skin.
It’s also given me time to really think about why we do the things we do. Whenever life gets thrown off the rails, it has a way of shining a new perspective on the things that have been a routine part of your day-to-day life and I’ve been asking myself, “Why do I blog?” When I started Happily Audrey, the goal was to have a creative space that would provide a platform to share the things that bring happiness to my life, while also supporting my communications consultant business. I want to connect with people and share stories about my love of travel and independence, how to take control of your career and how to turn crazy love into a thriving, supportive relationship.
Looking back, I feel like I’ve been trying so hard to keep up with everyone else that I’ve lost focus of the reasons I started blogging in the first place. And with that sentiment, I’m going to take some time off to recalibrate and come back stronger and more focused than ever. I want to take the time we currently have to work on bettering myself and preparing my family for wherever it is our next adventure takes us. Friends, we are so close to the finish line.
I’ve been in awe of the support shared within the blogging community since I started this internet journey and hope you’ll send any positive vibes you have to spare our way. And I also hope you’ll take this as an opportunity to share anything you hope to see from me in the future so we can continue to have open, candid conversations in what I hope will become a safe place for us all to share and learn from one another.
In the meantime, I’ll continue to post on my social platforms and keep everyone updated on where life takes us. While I don’t know how long of a break this will be, I do know that when I return – we will have so much to talk about.
