How To Have Fun With Office Style

Fun fact about me: My very first job out of college was as a one-man-band reporter for a local news station. That’s right, I was a news lady! And my 22-year-old self HATED having to wear a suit to work everyday. (When you’re lugging around 60 pounds in camera equipment and have to look fabulous 24/7 on a starter salary, it’s not the most functional fashion to pull off.) After I transitioned my career to working in public relations for a very casually dressed company, I quickly and enthusiastically donated every polyester blended item from my closet.

Fast forward to now and I’ve started reintroducing blazers to my wardrobe. I’ve talked about this before but I like to approach things I’ve created a negative opinion on with a more positive frame of mind. When I was able to start having fun with office style, I realized there are so many stylish opportunities and a blazer is now one of my favorite items to wear.

I discovered this blazer on sale at Revolve (it’s currently sold out but I found an almost identical style at J. Crew) and knew I had to have it. I’ve been wanted to add a navy blazer to my wardrobe but didn’t want something basic. The more relaxed fit and gold buttons were the perfect, small details that added just enough flair for this to still be part of my everyday wear. I liked that the buttons gave me of a nautical theme and I just went with that for inspiration. I added a striped t-shirt and pops of red in my earrings (I want these in every color btw) and bag to complete the look.

Another item I recently added to my wardrobe are these backless loafers, which I love not only as a stylish business shoe, but am I the only one who gets crazy blisters from anything with a back to it? These are so comfortable while still being a sharp addition to your look and make that workwear outfit much more fun to style.
